Autumn Days with Faux Tree Trunk

Hello to all,

I'm not quite sure what to call the textured layer I made.  It was suppose to look like tree bark??? but ended up looking more leather.  Anyways it came out stiff as I wanted and looked good with the leaves and Autumn theme.  Definitely would use for outdoor/tree theme again.  Had fun making it and didn't take that long.  Here is a close-up of the Tree Trunk---Leather---Bark? layer.   If you can figure out what to call it, please leave a comment.   

Here's how it is done:

The card base is Dusty Durango.  The layer is Naturals Ivory and is randomly stamped with Autumn Days leaf and pinecone in Dusty Durango, Handsome Hunter and Soft Suede.  Then layered on Handsome Hunter.  The leaves are from the Big Shot Originals Die Leaves #2.  I used Autumn Traditions Designer Paper for two of the leaves and sponged Soft Suede on the edges.  The top leaf is Naturals Ivory.  The sentiment is colored with three markers, Dusty Durango (love having the In Color Stampin' Write markers) Handsome Hunter and Soft Suede.  The verse is part of a sentiment from God's Blessings set.  Then the edges of the leaf were sponged in the three colors also.

Now to make the tree bark layer.  Generously mist water on Naturals Ivory. (Can get mist bottle at a local craft store.)  Let water seep into cardstock a little then using your Decor Elements Applicator, scrape the cardstock causing it to peel up and become rough.  Dry with the Heat Tool.  Sponge Soft Suede over to give depth and enhance the roughness.

I took this tree bark layer and added a Soft Suede layer under one edge.  The Soft Suede layer is scalloped with the Scallop punch and the rounded scallops were trimmed of with the Paper Trimmer to make blunt edges.  Since the tree bark layer is stiff, I wanted it to stand out so I only adhered the middle areas and let the edges curl up.  Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon back is used with Linen Thread down the center.  Leaves are layered over the ribbon and the sentiment leaf is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.
