Guest Stamper-Cathy's Spooky Treats

Bwwwaaaaaa to all,

"Yeeessssth, Dr. Frankenssstein, the pills----they work----heehheehheeh".

Cathy, my co-worker and Stampin' Up! customer, made some ghoulish goodies and she gave me one.  Nothing says "Meet Your Doom" as these Halloween M & M's in a test tube with a skull.  She used our Spooky Treats Rub-Ons on the test tube.  The skull is on the front with the black raven on back.

There are enough rub-ons for her to make twelve test tubes of Dr. Frank's evil but delicious pills.

Such a quick and easy Trick or Treat gift.  Thank you Cathy for sharing your wonderful idea with us.

Now, do I dare take a Dr. Frank pill?  Oh, but it's chocolate----who could resist.  Heehheehheeehheeh.

Have a safe and spooky halloween.

Anything but a Card PPA13 Challenge

Hello to all,

These little clips were made with my grandaughters in mind but to play with the Pals Paper Arts Challenge too.   I wanted pink and shiny for the clips.

The top left was colored with Pink Passion Craft Ink and Heat & Stick Powder.  I clipped it to a wooden skewer so it would not stick together while heating with my Heat Tool.  *Note--do not touch the clip as it will be hot.  Then a generous coating of the Micro Beads to cover while warm.  Heat a moment more to set beads. You may have to push down and move the beads a bit to get in place.  Let cool and your done.

The clip below is with the Fine Supernova Glitter in pink.  I also covered the top with Passion Pink Craft Ink and Heat and Stick Powder, heated, and then quickly poured on the glitter.  Shake off excess and heat quickly again to set glitter.

The right clip uses the large flowers from the Pretties Kit.  The pink flower is made by spritzing a white flower all over with water and colored with the Aqua Painter and Melon Mambo.  Dry carefully with heat tool.  Then using a paintbrush I painted on Shimmer Paint Frost White.  For added depth to petals, I added Melon Mambo Ink Refill to some of the Frost White.  Let dry.  If you use the heat tool do not get too close as the paint can bubble.  The white flower is covered with Shimmer Paint Frost White also.

When dry, I folded in half and pleated the middle, used sewing thread and wrapped the end tight and tied off.  Then I made a snip down the center of the stem so that it would open as a brad.  I covered the clip with Organza Ribbon and Sticky Strip.  Next, I carefully made a couple of stitches on each side of the open stem to the clip covered with ribbon to help hold in place.  A few drops of Crystal Effects on each side and let dry clipped to the skewer.

There--you have three shiny pink clips for little girls.  I can't wait to make a few more and mail them to my granddaughters.

Hope you have a sweet day and be sure to visit Pals Paper Arts by clicking on the image on my sidebar.  A lot of creations to inspire you.  See--it's not just cards we make.      : )

My display table at Dahlia's Central Mexican Cuisine

Hello to all,

Today's post is a little different.  Great things about blogs--you can post personal stuff too.

Recently, the owner of Dahlia's Restaurant asked me to decorate her antique table and crochet tablecloth with a fall theme.  She said I could use my Stampin' Up! creations to boost my business too.  I really enjoyed setting up the table---but not as much as I love the food there.  Their food is fresh, no by-products or preservatives and the meat is never frozen---fresh from the butcher every day.  Jose, the chef, prepares the meat and you won't find hamburger in the Beef Enchilidas.  You have shredded beef with lovely red sauce.  And the Salsa!!!!  It's the greatest!!  Also, their water is of the utmost finest as it is filtered twice through a water system.  The Iced Tea is perfect clarity and taste.  I'm buying a gallon next time I go.

They have a wonderful menu to choose from and a wonderful staff who are friendly and take good care of you.

I hope you visit Dahlia's soon and meet Dahlia and Jose.  She is a lovely person and I know you will absolutely love the food.  You will find the restaurant at 2003 Southern Blvd, Suite 116, here in Rio Rancho, NM.  Give them a call for open hours or take home the greatest Mexican Cuisine ever.  505-896-1544.

And be sure to see my display table.  I left several business cards and the new Holiday Mini Catalog.  Items on the table are some of the creations posted here on my blog and over at Splitcoaststampers.

When you go to Dahlia's, be sure to tell her hello for me and that you saw her restaurant on my blog.

Have a sweet day and enjoy!

Autumn Days with Faux Tree Trunk

Hello to all,

I'm not quite sure what to call the textured layer I made.  It was suppose to look like tree bark??? but ended up looking more leather.  Anyways it came out stiff as I wanted and looked good with the leaves and Autumn theme.  Definitely would use for outdoor/tree theme again.  Had fun making it and didn't take that long.  Here is a close-up of the Tree Trunk---Leather---Bark? layer.   If you can figure out what to call it, please leave a comment.

Here's how it is done:

The card base is Dusty Durango.  The layer is Naturals Ivory and is randomly stamped with Autumn Days leaf and pinecone in Dusty Durango, Handsome Hunter and Soft Suede.  Then layered on Handsome Hunter.  The leaves are from the Big Shot Originals Die Leaves #2.  I used Autumn Traditions Designer Paper for two of the leaves and sponged Soft Suede on the edges.  The top leaf is Naturals Ivory.  The sentiment is colored with three markers, Dusty Durango (love having the In Color Stampin' Write markers) Handsome Hunter and Soft Suede.  The verse is part of a sentiment from God's Blessings set.  Then the edges of the leaf were sponged in the three colors also.

Now to make the tree bark layer.  Generously mist water on Naturals Ivory. (Can get mist bottle at a local craft store.)  Let water seep into cardstock a little then using your Decor Elements Applicator, scrape the cardstock causing it to peel up and become rough.  Dry with the Heat Tool.  Sponge Soft Suede over to give depth and enhance the roughness.

I took this tree bark layer and added a Soft Suede layer under one edge.  The Soft Suede layer is scalloped with the Scallop punch and the rounded scallops were trimmed of with the Paper Trimmer to make blunt edges.  Since the tree bark layer is stiff, I wanted it to stand out so I only adhered the middle areas and let the edges curl up.  Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon back is used with Linen Thread down the center.  Leaves are layered over the ribbon and the sentiment leaf is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.

Hope you enjoy and try this Faux tree bark.  It is really easy and fast to do.  Leave a comment if you try it and let us know what you did with yours.

Have a sweet day.

Vintage Christmas

Hello to all,

It has been a looooong time since I've tried the Thumping Technique so this card is for the Clean and Simple Challenge (CAS36) over at Splitcoaststampers.  I just love the ornaments stamps and thought they would look great with this technique.  And the Shimmer Paint-----well, I don't know what I did before without them.

Here is a close up of the ornaments:

Here's how it is done.
Naturals White Cardstock is the base card--4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Note:  I trimmed the front edge 1/4" shorter.  The ornaments are Tree Trimmings stamp set.  I just love the vintage design on the ornaments.  The two larger ornaments are stamped on Naturals Ivory and the small on Naturals White.  The Christmas tree is Lovely as a Tree set--the lone Pine tree.  Markers are used on the stamps for the Thumping Technique.

To make the tree I first colored the Pine Tree stamp all over with Old Olive marker.  Then I thumped Always Artichoke, Handsome Hunter, Dusty Durango and Summer Sun markers over the Old Olive to give depth and color to the tree limb.  Then Chocolate Chip marker was thumped over the tree trunk and a little into the needles.  I did not ink the bottom of the stamp.  Next, huff a couple of times on the stamp to moisten the ink again, lay sideways along the bottom of the front and stamp.  Clean stamp, repeat above again and stamp next to the limb just a little shorter.  I also stamp off again once more in between the limbs to give more limbs.  Repeat process and keep moving upward and bringing stamp closer in.  At the top, start turning stamp upwards.  Sponge only edges of the tree with Old Olive.

Green Ornament:  Gable Green marker colored all over.  Thump Old olive on side to be shadowed (darker) and Summer Sun on other side.  Cut out and trim close to ornament.  Use Gable Green marker and go all around edge of ornament.

Red Ornanment:  Dusty Durango all over.  Thump Bravo Burgandy on shadowed side and Ruby Red on the other.  Trim and go around edge with Dusty Durango.

Blue Ornament:  Ballet Blue all over.  Thump Night of Navy and Bashful Blue.

Sentiment from Christmas Greetings:  Dusty Durango all over and thumped Bravo Burgandy.  Use a Q-Tip to thump a little Shimmer Paint Champagne Mist over and stamp at the top of the card using Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for even placement.

Next, use Shimmer Paint Champagne Mist and a Q-Tip to Thump sparkles on the ornaments.

Use Sponge Dauber to edges of the rest of the card.  I went a little furthur and swiped the shimmer across the open space but it was a little blotchy.  To help cover, I sponged Bashful Blue in swipes across to give a shimmery sky look.  But I believe it looked a lot better without the shimmery sky look.

Pop the ornaments up on Stampin' Dimensionals and your done.  Hope you try the Thumping technique and the Shimmer Paints.

You can order the above stamps, markers, Shimmer Paint and rest of the supplies at my Stampin' Up! website

Would love to hear your comments and let me know if you try the Thumping Technique too.
Have a sweet day.

Razzleberry & Navy Thank You

Hello to all,

Today's card was made for two things.  My son wanted a Thank You card to send to his grandparents and I wanted to play along with the challenge at Pals Paper Arts.  My son wanted rich colors and he chose Rich Razzleberry, Not Quite Navy and Naturals Ivory.  With these colors and the challenge sketch at PPA I created this card.  I felt it need shine so I added the wonderful new Shimmer Paint to the center of the medallion.  If you haven't played with the shimmer paints you're missing out.  They are fabulous!  I thought my son did a fantastic job of picking the colors too.

Here is a close-up of the shimmery center.

The card base is Naturals Ivory.  I used the retired Designer Series Paper from a hostess set that had Not Quite Navy.  I chose the square design for my dad--gives a masculine touch. The edges of the Designer Series Paper are sponged with Not Quite navy.  I used Circle Scissors Plus to cut the two circles--one in Naturals Ivory at 3 1/2" and Rich Razzleberry at 3 3/4"  The Medallion stamp was colored in wide stripes with Rich Razzleberry and Not Quite Navy markers then spritzed with my fine mist water bottle to give a water color effect.  I off-centered the medallion to let some of the Naturals Ivory show through.  Then using a sponge dauber, I lightly added Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to the center.  Both circle edges are sponged with Rich Razzleberry and a Pink Fire Rhinestone is added.  A little bling for my step-mother.
The strip below is Naturals Ivory at 1", Not Quite Navy at 3/4" and Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon.  I flipped the ribbon and used the back.  Love how this ribbon is reversible.  Silver Hodgepodge Oval and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp make the sentiment on Naturals Ivory.  It is stamped and sponged lightly with Rich Razzleberry.

Tidbit of Info:

Use Mini Glue Dots to keep the ends of the ribbon snug.  Also place one over the brad prongs to help hold tight.
Two Stampin' Dimensionals support the back of the Hodgepodge Oval sentiment.  I put two small dots of glue to hold in place the punched sentiment to the Hodgepodge Oval.  When dry enough, add the Stampin' Dimensionals. Use the Paper Piercing Tool and the foam mat from the Mat Pack to make holes for the brads.

To order any of these products to make this card, just go to the sidebar and click to go to my Stampin' Up! website.  And don't forget--I will send you a rebate check for $10.00 when you purchase the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.

Anita's Challenge-----Got your attention?

Hello to all,

How about this challenge?  Anita decided that I was spending too much time stamping and wanted her picture made with the card.  While I'm taking the pics to post here, she jumps up and places herself behind the card.  So, here's Anita.  Her challenge?  Guess, she wants you to play along too.  Or she wants a treat.

Anyways, here is a close up of the card.  This was to play along with two different challenges over at Splitcoaststampers.  The first is a sketch challege (SC250) and the second is the colors (CC240).  The card is made with Chocolate Chip Textured cardstock, Bermuda Bay Textured Cardstock and So Saffron Designer Series Paper (retired).  For the sketch, I reduced the size to a 3 x 3" card.  I love the simplicity and ease of making a note card.

The base is 3 x 6" Chocolate Chip Textured and is scored at 3".  The Bermuda Bay layer is 2 1/2 x 2 1/2".  The So Saffron Designer Paper is 2 1/4 x 2 1/4"  The Chocolate Chip squares are punched out with the 3/4" Square Punch (retired).  I used the Boho Blossom Punch for the center flowers.  To add some bling, I added the Square Fire Rhinestones Brads in the yellow color.  The little squares are then popped up on Stampin' Dimesionals.

This card also will go under my Pony Express cards.  These cards can be made from start to finish within 15 minutes.  And a great way to use up those scraps of Designer Paper that you just hate to get rid of.

So have some fun and make several of these cards to have on hand to give out.  Oh, and don't forget the kitty treats.   :)

Don't forget about my special this week along with the Deal of the Week 2.   I will send you a $10.00 rebate check when you purchase a Big Shot Die-Cut Machine from me.  Be sure to visit my website and place your order for the Big Shot, Deals of the Week 2 and any other of our Stampin' Up! products.

Have a sweet day.
Pamela

Tidbit of Info:

The Boho Bermuda Bay flower has a touch of Snail Adhesive on back to hold it to the square base.  The Paper-Piercing Tool and foam mat from the Mat Pack helped make the hole in the center to put the brad through.   I snipped part of the ends of the brads with a small pair of wire cutters.  That way the ends don't peek out from the square.  The Stampin' Dimensional then covers the ends and pops up the square to stand out from the card.
